The Southern Medical Association is a group dedicated to improving the quality of patient care by providing education to physicians. They needed a fun and exciting way to engage with their members, while also highlighting the benefits of membership. One of those benefits was world-class malpractice insurance for a fraction of the cost most insurance companies charge.
Based on their research, malpractice insurance was rather low on most physician’s list of priorities. Doctors are worried more about the heavy costs of new regulations, difficulty collecting insurance money, and all the unexpected, never-ending paperwork that goes into sustaining a practice. While all these problems matter a great deal, it doesn’t mean that physicians don’t want to save money. SMA figured physicians just needed a little education about the many benefits of their malpractice insurance program.
In order to sell the benefits of partnering with SMA for their malpractice insurance, Southern Medical Association came to Association Studios for a high-quality explainer video. They wanted the information to educate as well as entertain, and to get to the point as quickly as possible without sounding too much like a sales pitch. We went to work right away.
The audience for the video was independent physicians looking to save money so that they didn’t have to join a larger hospital system. They want to stay independent and maintain the autonomy that comes from not having to answer to a huge, faceless organization. The barriers to achieving this are many, including but not limited to the mounting costs of insurance, ever-increasing regulations, the stipulations of the Affordable Care Act, HIPPA compliance, insurance reimbursements, office workflow issues, collections on deadbeat patients, and somewhere at the bottom of the list is malpractice insurance. To educate physicians and combat the low importance of changing malpractice insurance to most medical professionals, we established Southern Medical as the empathetic guide who understands that physicians have a lot on their plates and what they really need is an easy win. The plan to achieve that win was simple, just click the link, send in their info, SMA would provide the quote, they would sign up and save money. We provided links in the video and supporting copy, all pointing to the fact that they would save money and get cross this one thing off their list, freeing them up to move on. Better that than one more thing looming over their head.
Southern Medical Association loved the video we provided and felt that we captured the spirit of their message. Not only has it been a successful marketing tool, it also helps enhance the brand image of SMA to medical professionals, speaking to SMA’s brand message of helping patients by educating physicians.
