Associations that learn to shoot video have the advantage of capturing more valuable content to engage their membership and industry, all while saving thousands of dollars in production costs. In this video, we cover the essential equipment you need and tackle the basics on filming video to help you shoot video like a professional.
SHOPPING LIST
Having the right production tools is essential for capturing professional-looking video content. Luckily, you don’t need to overspend to get high-quality video footage.
CANON XA11
The Canon XA11 is an HD camcorder that has all of the professional features you will need in just about any situation where you want to capture footage. What we love most about this camera is its very compact size and impressive 20x HD optical zoom which comes in handy when you’re shooting press conferences, educational sessions, and more.
CANON 50mm LENS
Priced at just $125, it’s hard to say no to adding the Canon 50mm to your gear list. The maximum aperture (or space through which light passes through) of f/1.8 really does an impressive job in lower-light settings. You will be amazed at the video you shoot with this lens.
SENNHEISER AVX
Admittedly, the Sennheiser AVX digital wireless lavalier is a luxury item for the price point, but if your primary goal is shooting interviews, you’ll want to add this microphone to your wish list.
MANFROTTO COMPACT ACTION TRIPOD
This tripod checks all of the boxes; it’s incredibly lightweight and compact making it easy to pack in your bag and it extends to over 60 inches tall. And as far as tripods go, that’s all you really need. This is the perfect tool to help you capture interviews at an event.
BENRO AERO 4
If you like the idea of being able to move the camera while on the tripod, we recommend our favorite the Benro Aero 4. It’s not quite as light and compact as other tripods, but you’ll still be able to fit this in most bags. On the other hand, it’s a lot more sturdy and designed for camera movement while on the tripod.
