If you are trying to make your workspace a little less distracting for a meeting or don’t have a home office if you are working from home, a Zoom background is a quick and powerful tool to use to help minimize distractions during a meeting or webinar.

The virtual background feature allows you to show an image as your background during a Zoom Meeting. This works best with a green screen, blank white background or uniform lighting, so Zoom to detect the differences between you and your background.

You can also upload your own images or videos as a virtual background. There are no size restrictions when adding your own virtual backgrounds, but we recommend cropping the image to match the aspect ratio of your camera before uploading it.

Enabling Virtual Backgrounds

In a Zoom meeting, click the up arrow next to Start/Stop meeting. Click “Choose a virtual background.” If prompted, click “download” to download the package to use a virtual background without a green screen. Select the picture, or you can add your own image using the plus button. For Zoom mobile, you’ll go through the same exact steps.

Have fun with it! Pick a background that is professional enough to be the background of your meeting or a fun picture that is appropriate for the meeting attendees or topic.

For Best Results

• Make sure to use a solid color background behind you. At Association Studio’s, we’ve found that Green Screen works best. 
• Higher quality cameras make for beer virtual backgrounds. 
• Use uniform lighting and color. 
• Don’t wear clothing that is the same color as the virtual background. 
• If you are uploading your own background, make sure the ratio is 16:9 or the resolution is at least 1280×720.
• For a video upload, make sure it is 360dp or 480 by 360 pixels.
